I am an Essential Skills Literacy and Numeracy Tutor and I have been delivering the Essential Skills programmes for approximately seven years now. I attended Queen’s University where I completed the following qualifications: Level 4 Certificate in the Teaching and Management of Essential Skills and Literacy; Level 4 Certificate in the Teaching and Management of Essential Skills and Numeracy and a Level 5 Diploma in the Teaching and Management of Essential Skills and Literacy. I achieved a highly commended status in all three qualifications.
I have worked in a variety of settings including training organisations and two of the further education colleges. I have delivered this programme to both young and adult students participating in a number of government funded programmes and community initiatives. Having worked with a variety of age groups, I am aware of the many barriers they face when returning to education and have an understanding and empathy for my students’ educational and emotional needs.
I am aware of the qualities that a good tutor should display including patience, empathy, flexibility, good classroom management and indeed, an excellent knowledge of their subject(s). I have a proven track record of supporting, coaching and mentoring my students to achieve their personal and educational goals. I have a passion for teaching and strive to produce a good quality service to my clients; I place my students at the heart of the learning process.
